Mid-Michigan Minister Sentenced in Woman's Slaying

Posted:

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - A minister will spend up to 85 years in prison for killing a neighbor in a mid-Michigan trailer park as part of a fantasy of having sex with a corpse.

The Morning Sun says 55-year-old John D. White was sentenced Thursday in Isabella County Circuit Court.

Chief Judge Paul Chamberlain added 10 years to the recommended 46-year minimum sentence.

White pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder in the Oct. 31, 2012, slaying of 24-year-old Rebekah Gay in her Broomfield Township mobile home. White bludgeoned and strangled Gay and dumped her nude body in the woods.

White was pastor of tiny Christ Community Fellowship church in Deerfield Township. He had previous convictions for manslaughter in Kalamazoo County and attacking another woman in Calhoun County.
