Michigan Women's Studies Association Celebrate 40th Anniversary

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- The Michigan Women's Association celebrated its 40th anniversary this afternoon at the Cooley Law School Temple Conference Center.

Around 80 people came to the "Looking Back, Looking Forward" program, which featured a luncheon, speakers and break out sessions.

All of the day's events focused on the progress made in the women's movement over the past 40 years and looked to the future to see where women will go next.

"I think it is incredibly important because this is the way we remember our history, to have these events, to have these women come and talk about the struggles they went though and the things that they did," said Vice President Liza Estlund Olson. "There's many places even today where women can't get much further than they already are, and that's disappointing to see."
