Fenner Nature Center Celebrates Earth Day

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Earth Day celebrations across Mid-Michigan are off to an early start this year.

More than 1,000 people came out to the Fenner Nature Center today, spending time learning about nature through events like a bird identification hike, an archaeological dig and a picnic for the earth.

"The Earth Day Extravaganza is a really exciting event where we engage the community in helping to care for the park. Our mission is to connect people to nature in the heart of Lansing and this event is all about that," said Fenner Conservancy Executive Director Jason Meyer. "To have people come out and get dirty and actually connect with the earth in that way really helps us with what we're trying to do."

The Fenner Nature Center is free of charge and open every day from sun up to sun down.
