Hundreds of people will gather in East Lansing Monday for Governor Rick Snyder's 18th Annual Education Summit.
The theme "Collaborate, Create and Connect" is a continuation from Snyder's Economic Summit held in Detroit this March; where he spoke about matching education with employer's needs.
He'll continue those discussions Monday, as well as encourage schools and employers to work together more often.
The Governor's hoping to expose students to careers at an early age; such as taking elementary students on more tours of local businesses.
He also plans to talk about making curriculum less theoretical and more practical.
Governor Snyder says there are plenty of available jobs in the state but not enough qualified people to fill them, and that needs to change.
The summit starts at 8:30 A.M. at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing.
