LANSING & JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - To help protect yourself against identity theft, TV-6 has sponsored an event to help you safely get rid of your personal documents. It's called Shred Fest.
You can drop documents off and workers will destroy them into confetti sized paper free of charge. They will only accept paper.
Workers at Friedland Industries say they collected about 17 tons of material and estimate about 300 people stopped by to drop off material.
There are two locations for Shred Fest all day on Thursday:
Lansing: Friedland Industrties, 405 Maple St. until 6:30p.m.
Jackson: Northwest Refuse, 2600 Lansing Ave. until 7p.m.
