Grand River Plant Starts Pre-Production on Cadillac CTS

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Lansing Grand River plant will start pre-production on the 2014 Cadillac CTS Friday.

Last month, General Motors unveiled the new car. Officials showed off the sleak CTS and explained how it gets from the plant to the showroom floor. The luxury sedan is loaded wiith expanded performance and sophisticated technology.

"When you talk about a 3.6 liter twin turbo engine combined with an 8 speed transmission that's really exciting," said Mike Green, president of UAW Local 652.

The CTS will be built on the same platform as the ATS, the North American Car of the Year and will be entirely built at the Grand River Plant.

"This workforce is absolutely second to none, last year we added 600 employees to help us to build the additional ATS and CTS's, that's part of the plan and we are right on track," said GM Regional Plant Manager Tony Francavilla.

General Motors hopes to see the 2014 CTS in showroom floors by the fall of this year.
