JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Jury deliberation began in a dramatic murder trial in Jackson Tuesday. 50-year-old Todd Robinson is charged with open murder for the 2011 shooting of Eshaum Gant.
The trial only lasted two days.
Judge Thomas Wilson even seemed surprised when the defense attorney rested without calling any witnesses of his own. He did question those witnesses called by the prosecution. His line of questioning for all of them, as well as his closing remarks, really focused on discrediting their statements.
He says Robinson changed his story almost a year after Gant's death and that both of the witnesses have criminal backgrounds.
But the prosecutor asked the jury only to consider the facts of the case.
The jury begins deliberating Wednesday morning. If convicted of first degree murder, Robinson faces life behind bars.
