Savana Ciavatta joined the 6 news team in April 2013 as a reporter/video journalist. She comes from the Metro Detroit area and is excited to bring you the news from the state capitol.
Savana graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors and from the honors college of Oakland University in April 2013. It was in Rochester Michigan where her broadcasting career began. She got her start at OUTV, Oakland's television station as an anchor and reporter for their daily newscasts. She also worked at her local public access station in Washington Township WBRW-TV as a multimedia journalist. Savana's love for sports also led her to work as an on-air sideline reporter for State Champs High School Sports Show on CW-50 in Detroit. In 2011, she completed a very fulfilling internship that lasted 8 months at WXYZ-TV in Detroit. At the station she wrote for the air and for the web, as well as assisted the Investigative Unit.
Despite being a Golden Grizzly, Savana is no stranger to Mid-Michigan. She spent a year at Meridian Township's government access station, HOMTV as an anchor and multimedia journalist. She covered everything from township board meetings to the redevelopment of downtown Okemos.
Before joining Channel 6, Savana traveled the country as an auto show model for an American carmaker. She also proudly holds dual citizenship in San Marino Italy, where her family is from.
