MSP Collects Over 700lbs. of Prescription Drugs

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Michigan State Police say they collected over 700 pounds of prescription drugs last Saturday across the state.

MSP partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. It allowed people a safe place to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs.

All 29 MSP posts participated. Drugs collected by the posts were as follows:

  • Alpena – 19 lbs
  • Brighton – 120 lbs
  • Cadillac – 14 lbs
  • Calumet – 10 lbs
  • Caro – 30 lbs
  • Coldwater – 7 lbs
  • Flint – 4 lbs
  • Gaylord – 7 lbs
  • Gladstone – 21 lbs
  • Hart – 11 lbs
  • Houghton Lake – 10 lbs
  • Iron Mountain – 45 lbs
  • Jackson – 40 lbs
  • Lakeview – 10 lbs
  • Lansing – 33 lbs
  • Lapeer – 36 lbs
  • Metro – 28 lbs
  • Monroe – 18 lbs
  • Mt. Pleasant – 3 lbs
  • Negaunee – 90 lbs
  • Niles – 38 lbs
  • Paw Paw – 6 lbs
  • Rockford – 19 lbs
  • Sault Ste. Marie – 37 lbs
  • St. Ignace – 5 lbs
  • Tri-City – 30 lbs
  • Wakefield – 3 lbs
  • Wayland – 4 lbs
  • West Branch – 11 lbs
