School Building Closed Due To MRSA

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit school district has closed buildings for the day after two employees were diagnosed with MRSA.

The Mount Clemens Community School District says in a posting on its website that its buildings will be closed on Tuesday.

Methicillin-resistant staph is a contagious bacterial infection that's resistant to many commonly used antibiotics. Officials with the school district say they confirmed on Monday night that a teacher and an aide at Mount Clemens High School had MRSA.

Sanitation efforts for the district's facilities and buses are planned. School buildings are expected to reopen on Wednesday.
