Ingham County Honors Fallen Officers

MASON, Mich. (WLNS) – More than 100 law enforcement officers, family and friends gathered in Mason Thursday morning to pay their respects to the nine Ingham County officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

"They served the ultimate sacrifice not only for their families [and] their organization, but for their communities." says Lansing Police Department Interim Chief Mike Yankowski. "And it's important that we remember, not only as a law enforcement agency, but as a community, that these officers put their lives on the line to keep us safe each and every day."

Of the nine fallen Ingham County officers, five served with the Lansing Police Department.

1996 was the last time an Ingham County officer lost a life in the line of duty.
