LCC Construction Causing Noise Concerns During Finals Week

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Upgrades are coming to Lansing Community College, as construction workers are gutting the Arts and Sciences building.

But the noise to do all this work is making it hard for some to concentrate this week, as students are taking their final exams. The building being under construction is causing quite the headache for students trying to finish their semester with good grades.

"It's just not quiet at all. Like I said, the ground is shaking, your feet are shaking and you're sitting there trying to listen to the teacher and you can't hear what he's saying. It's just really hard," said Madison Smith, an LCC student.

The Dean of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Michael Nealon, says the college can't afford to put the $30 million major renovation project on hold. "This is our most heavily used teaching facility. The opportunity to close it during the course of construction is just not available to us," said Dr. Nealon.

He says the school is willing to listen to concerns students may have. They should call the school's hotline number at 517-483-1015.

Construction is expected to be completed by fall.
