Semi-Accident on I-96 Shuts Down Traffic

UPDATE 6:10p.m.: Police say that the semi-driver veered off the road when his tire blew. He was pulled out of the semi by passers-by and taken to Sparrow Hospital.

One lane was re-opened for passing traffic.

WEBBERVILLE, Mich. (WLNS) - A semi-accident on I-96 westbound, east of Elm Road, near mile marker 124, is causing severe traffic.

It happened around 5p.m. Monday just west of Webberville.

There have been several reports of black smoke.

Police are closing down lanes. Traffic is being re-routed onto Fowlerville Road. Please avoid the area.

6 News has a crew on the way and will provide updates as they become available.
