Williamston Now Offering Medicine, Drug Disposal


WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (WLNS) - The Williamston Police Department now has a disposal system for medications.

Monday through Friday, 8a.m.-5p.m., people can drop off the following medications:

  1. Pain Relievers (Vicodin, Hydrocodone, Demerol, Oxycodone, Fentanyl)
  2. Anti-Depressants (Valium, Xanax, Zoloft, Prozac)
  3. Sleep Aids (Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata)
  4. Behavior Modification Medication (Ritalin, Methylphenidate, Adderal)
  5. Cough Medication (With Dextromethorphan)

Items not accepted include:

  1. All other prescription medications
  2. Medicated ointments and lotions
  3. Needles, syringes, lancets, epi-pens
  4. Bloody or infectious waste
  5. Over-the-Counter drugs
  6. Vitamins & supplements
  7. Thermometers
  8. Insulin and inhalers

The collection is all part of the "Capital Area Take Back Meds/Drugs Drop Off" program.
