JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - Consumers Energy will be raising their rates effective May 16.
The company approved a settlement agreement with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) for $89 million annually.
A residential customer using 500 kilowatt-hours will see an increase of around $1.67 on their montly bill.
Consumers originally asked for a $148.3 million rate increase, but settled for $89 million on Thursday, a 40 percent decrease from the original offer.
