A state board has approved language for a ballot petition that would people seeking health insurance coverage of abortions pay for it separately.
A group called "No Taxes For Abortion Insurance" presented its ballot proposal to the state's Board of Canvassers.
The canvassers approved the wording of the proposal - not the proposal itself.
It's now up to the group to launch a petition drive and get hundreds of thousands of signatures to put the issue on the ballot.
It promises to be controversial. Some 50 protestors, many of them decked out in pink t-shirts, showed up at the hearing, calling the proposal a violation of womens' rights.
