Police Say Student Brought BB Gun To School

For the second time in a week, police in Jackson are investigating after a student brought a BB gun to school.

It happened last week at the Middle School at Parkside.

And they say it happened again on Tuesday - this time at Cascades Elementary School.

Police say the originally believed it was a real gun. They later found out it was a BB gun.

The 12-year-old student was returned to his or her parents.

There are now two investigations taking place - one by the legal system, where a juvenile court will decide whether to press charges.

And while they haven't confirmed it in this particular case, school officials typically look into the situation when a student brings a weapon to school and will considers some form of punishment.

The 6th grader who brought a BB gun to the middle school last week was suspended for 10 days and could face expulsion.

Jackson Bureau reporter Maureen LaForge is working this story and will have more tonight on 6 News.
