Posted: Updated:

EATON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - Jury selection began Monday for a doctor charged with criminal sexual assaults that date back as far as 2002.

Kassam Hallak, 54, of Holt is charged with one count of second degree, two counts of third degree and eight counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, totaling 11 charges. Officials say the assaults occurred between 2002 and 2010.

The age of the victims is still unknown, but officials say the victim connected to the second degree charge is under the age of 13.

Emotions ran high for potential jurors at the thought of hearing testimony about sexual misconduct with young children.

He was a family practice doctor out of Charlotte.

The trial continues Tuesday, with both sides giving their opening statements and testimony from alleged victims.
