State Looks For 2013 Christmas Tree


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The State of Michigan is on the hunt once again for the biggest and best Christmas tree.

They'll be taking nominations for the 2013 Christmas tree that will sit on the front lawn of the capitol come November.

In order to be considered, the tree must be spruce or fir with a minimum of 65' tall, a maximum crown of 30 feet and a maximum trunk diameter of 30 inches, is easily accessible from roads and wires and is available at no cost.

It's lit at the annual Silver Bells in the City Celebration in downtown Lansing.

They'll take nominations until July 31. If you'd like to nominate a tree, send your name, phone number, a picture and the size and location of the tree to or by mail to:
