JACKSON, MICH. (WLNS) -

The family mourns the loss of a loved one, who was gunned down outside a relatives home.

20-year-old Rakeish Brown man is dead after he was shot shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday in front of a home on 140 West Mansion Street in Jackson.

The victims aunt tells us her nephew left to go to the store and when he came back, she heard what she thought were fireworks. Moments later, Brown came running into the house and collapsed onto the floor.

She called 911, where he was taken to Allegiance hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Family and friends say Rakeish or "Ra-Ra" had a smile that lit up the room and his presence will be missed dearly.

"He was just a sweetheart," said aunt Yvette Hemphill. "He wasn't in the streets robbing or killing anybody. He never got in trouble like that, just an all around good kid."

Official says they have a 21-year-old man from Jackson in custody in connection with the shooting. Police say witnesses say the man running from the scene of the crime, and they were able to catch him afterward.

The man could face formal charges as son as tomorrow.
