Officials Believe Arson Caused Bridge Fire

IONIA, Mich. (WLNS)- It could take weeks to determine what may have caused the fire that destroyed one of Michigan's oldest wooden bridges.

The Ionia County Sheriff's Department described the early Sunday fire as arson, but the criminal investigation is ongoing.

The bridge that spanned the Flat River was built in 1869 and was one of the oldest wooden bridges in Michigan.
