Judge Dismisses Animal Cruelty Charge

HOWELL, Mich. (WLNS)- A judge has agreed to dismiss an animal cruelty charge involving a dozen horses that was brought against a 71-year-old Livingston County woman.

Officials say the horses were found last year without food or fresh water at Velva Wainscott's farm.

Wainscott, who had been awaiting trial, denied neglecting the horses. She says she's pleased with the decision to dismiss the charge.

In March, another ruling allowed her to continue to own the horses.
