UPDATE: Accident At Ionia, I-96 Re-Opened

Posted: Updated:

IONIA, Mich. (WLNS)- Our media partners at WWMT have reported that one victim in the crash that closed down westbound I-96 Monday was airlifted by a medical helicopter.

Michigan State Police believe that other accidents and road construction may have contributed to the crash. The crash involved two semi trucks and a greyhound bus.

According to our media partners at Mlive, a passenger on the bus said that the Greyhound driver pumped his brakes because there was a crash up ahead.

Wilson also said that about 25 people were on the bus and that several suffered what appeared to be minor injuries.

I-96 has since been re-opened.

IONIA, Mich. (WLNS)- Westbound I-96 has been closed down near the Ionia Exit.

Ionia officials tell us that the highway has been closed down due to an accident involving two semi trucks and a bus.

You are asked to avoid the area. Traffic has been rerouted just past Portland onto Grand River. Traffic will reenter the highway at Lake Odessa.

No word yet on if there were injuries.
