LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Residents are now being let back into their homes after a large gas line break caused an evacuation downtown.

Officials tell us that the line has been capped and the leak was due to a cut in the Consumers Energy gas line due to a Board of Water and Light crew working near by.

The line is a 2 inch medium pressure line, and officials believe the repairing of the line will last until 4 P.M..

20 homes were evacuated in the area around Sycamore St and Genesee St., but of that only Five were affected by the leak.
