Zookeeper's Help Animals Stay Safe In Heat

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- This week long heat wave isn't just taking a toll on people.

At the Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, zookeeper's are working to help the animals stay safe in these sweltering conditions.

"They get to either swim or they have access to areas that are air conditioned so just like people they'll go inside where it's air conditioned, go in the shade, or we'll provide misters with water that mist and spray on them," said Dr. Tara Harrison, Potter Park Zoo Veterinarian.

The heat has also caused zoo officials to close down the popular pony express ride.
