Energy Use Jumps During Heat Wave

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Since it has been so hot this week, one way to measure how hot exactly is by energy use.

The idea here is that air conditioners are energy monsters and drive up the meters. According to Consumers Energy we won't set an all time records Thursday, but it will come close.

Earlier Thursday, Consumers Energy estimated we had hit 8500 kilowatt hours.

The record was set a year ago almost to the day when customers used a little more than 9,000 kilowatt hours.
