JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) - One person is dead and another is in critical condition after seven vehicles in three separate accidents stopped traffic in Jackson.
They all happened within an hour of each other on I-94 Monday evening.
The first one happened on eastbound I-94 just before 5p.m. at mile marker 128. Police say the driver of a semi tractor trailer lost control, trying avoid something on the roadway. The semi ended up leaving the road and hitting several trees.
The driver was pinned inside and had to be flown to a hospital in Kalamazoo. He's now listed in critical condition.
Less than an hour later, a three car crash hit on westbound I-94 near Parma Road in Sandstone Township.
Two people involved had to be rushed to Allegiance Hospital, though the extent of injuries is still unknown.
During that investigation, a third crash hit, a little ways down near Dearing Road.
The crash involved three semi-trucks, one of which was engulfed in flames. A driver of one of the semi's involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified, but officials won't release the name until proper notification has been made.
