Suspect Taken Into Custody Following Hotel Standoff

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A man involved in a four-hour standoff in Lansing Township Saturday night is back in Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor police tell 6 News the suspect was picked up this morning, but his name and charges have not yet been released.

Lansing Township Police Chief Kay Hoffman said the Lansing Township Police Department received a call from Ann Arbor police at 8:05 p.m. Saturday requesting assistance.

Police believed a suspect, connected to a Wednesday Ann Arbor bank armed robbery, was staying at the Marriott Courtyard, 2710 Lake Lansing Road.

Upon checking, Lansing Township police matched the suspect's vehicle and name with a guest staying in the hotel.

Police put up a perimeter and called in a negotiator. A call was made to the suspect, who followed instructions and was taken into custody.

Lansing Township Police received assistance from the East Lansing Police Department, Lansing Police Department and Ingham County's Special Response Team.

No one was injured.

About 40 guests were moved to the Radisson Hotel, 111 N Grand Ave., to ensure safety. Other hotel guests, who weren't in danger, were left alone.

Chief Hoffman described the situation as going "by the book."

The investigation is ongoing. Stay with 6 News for more information.
