Kroger in Frandor Evacuated

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Fire crews evacuated the Kroger in Frandor due to a hazardous material. It all happened around 12:30p.m. Monday off Saginaw Highway.

Lansing Fire says an employee had been using a gas powered motor for routine maintenance in an unventilated area, which brought on fumes, causing him to collapse to the floor. Paramedics took the man to Sparrow Hospital. He's the only person affected by the incident and remains in stable condition.

Kroger employees and customers were taken out of the building and brought to a distance in the parking lot. The space immediately in front of the store was taped off for safety precautions.

Lansing Fire Department and HAZMAT led the investigation. The Department of Health and Agriculture was also on scene helping to clean up afterward.

Corporate Kroger is now coming to take over the investigation. The store later re-opened.
