LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (WLNS) - A 20-year-old man from Portland died after colliding with an oncoming train Monday night in Lake Odessa. Michael Cole was traveling North on Jordan Lake Road when he was hit by the eastbound train.

The accident happened shortly after 8 p.m. near the McDonald's at the railroad crossing. Around 2 a.m. Tuesday a CSX railroad boom tow vehicle finally pulled what's left of the car off of the railroad tracks in Lake Odessa near Huddle Road. The damage was so severe that the car was unidentifiable.

All roads are back open, but the cause of the crash is still unknown and the accident remains under investigation.
