Many Without Power After Storm, Scam Warning

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The storms that passed through Monday night and early Tuesday morning caused some power outages across the area.

According to the Consumers Energy website, 84 customers in Ionia County are currently without power. There are 40 customers in Ingham County and 28 in Clinton County also without power. Shiawasee County was hit the hardest with 185 customers without power, mainly in the Owosso area.

Consumers Energy is currently working to return the power.

Consumers Energy also wants to warn customers about a potential scam. Officials say they have had several reports of people pretending to be Consumers Energy employees either by phone, through email or going door-to-door. In this case, the imposter offers to pay a bill for you, in order to get inside your home.

Remember, all Consumers Energy employees carry picture ID with them. If you think you have been a victim of a scam or have any questions, call Consumers Energy at 1 (800)-477-5050.
