Two Fires In The Area Leave Homes Damaged

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Two early morning fires in the area have left homes damaged.

The first, in Laingsburg in the 100 Block of Church Street just after 6 a.m. Tuesday. The homeowner got out safely, but his home has significant damage. The fire chief believe the fire started in the basement after a tree fell into a power-line nearby.

The second fire happened in Lansing on Holes Street around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. A family of four is safe and getting help from the Red Cross. They were forced from their home when someone inside woke up and noticed the flames on their back porch. Crews were able to keep the flames contained to the back of the home, but there is smoke and water damage throughout. There is no word on what started the fire.
