Man Killed After Lansing Shooting Identified

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, MICH. (WLNS)- One person is dead and two others are in stable condition at a local hospital after shots flew in Lansing.

Police have identified the victim as Marcus Basey II, 23.

It happened shortly before 3 A.M. on the 3200 block of West Holmes Road, east of Waverly, on Monday, when officials say three people sustained gunshot wounds after a fight broke out.

The group was gathered to honor Joseph Manning, 23, who died Friday after suffering injuries in a Lansing jail.

"We're not sure in this case that the suspects were known to the victims. However, that's yet to be determined," said Cpt. Jim Kraus with the Lansing Police Department.

Basey was reportedly taken to a local hospital by a friend and later died from his gunshot wounds.

The other two victims in the shooting were a 42-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old man. Officials say they are in stable condition.
