LANSING,Mich. (WLNS) - The Michigan Senate voted Tuesday to recognize the sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans and will allow them to receive high school diplomas.
"The requirements to access this piece of legislation and take advantage of it for them is the fact that they had to be in high school. They had to be enrolled in high school. They had to have an honorable service record, and no limit though if they served in the Vietnam Era, they are able to utilize it," said Senator Judy Emmons.
Michigan currently allows school boards to award high school diplomas to veterans of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
