Red Cross Declares Blood Emergency

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Red Cross has been very busy this summer and with so many people on the roads traveling, they need your donations more than ever.

Following the three day Labor Day weekend, the American Red Cross of Lansing is declaring an urgent need for eligible and healthy donors to make appointments to donate platelets and blood to restock the supply.

This weekend, the Red Cross saw a spike in demand at local hospitals and are now urging community members to drop by to save a life.

The red cross calls for 650 units of blood a day just to function. The Lansing branch is open Monday through Friday. They take appointments and walk-ins.
