Saginaw Nouvel Catholic 28 - Lansing Catholic 14

Lansing Catholic tried to avoid a rare 0-2 start to the season, and we were told Jordan Wieber was in the stands.

The cougar helmets went up against Saginaw Nouvel.

The Nouvel auarterback was something else, with over 200 yards rushing against the Cougars. He ran 15 yards for the 3rd quarter touchdown to break a 7-7 tie, and Nouvel went up 14-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, Nouvel used an onside kick and recovered it at midfield to get the ball right back, and Cougar coach Jim Ahern was not happy with the call.

He drew a penalty flag for unsportstmanlike conduct.

Coach Ahern needed his defense to toughen up, and it did. Peter Atkins laced a big hit for payback.

But Saginaw Nouvel had too much offense, as senior Austin Hughes got outside the edge into the enzone.

Saginaw Nouvel, now 0-2) beat Lansing Catholic 28 to 14.
