Statue Un-Veiled Honoring Former City Council Member

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A new statue was un-veiled to honor former city council member Mary Sharp Friday.

The statue, called Raising Harmony, was dedicated today at the East Lansing City Hall. Organizers say they hope that others will be inspired by Mary Sharp's example.

"Ihope that it inspires young people to not have the bad vision of politics. But to understand that people can do good things," said Mary Sharp, her daughter.

The statue and pedestal were paid for by donations from the community.
