Ladies Get Active On The Capitol Lawn for Muscular Dystrophy

The capitol lawn was active today with women working out for a good cause.

The first Zumbathon had 85 women dancing for an hour and a half to raise money for the muscular dystrophy association.

For 20 dollars they got to zumba with a professional instructor to the beat of the music.

Officials say the best part of the event is that participants not only got some exercise but were able to spread the word about diseases that affect so many people as well.

"It impacts more people than what you may think," said Sarah Armstrong, fundraising coordinator. "There are 43 different forms of muscular dystrophy and so its just a great way to spread awareness,

All the money raised today goes directly to local families that struggle with muscular dystrophy every day.
