Volunteers Clean Up East Lansing

After a day of tailgating and football, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean up East Lansing.

The Community Relations Coalition hosted a neighborhood cleanup to get rid of trash in the off-campus neighborhoods in East Lansing.

It took around an hour and a half to get rid of all the trash on the sidewalks and street from the day before.

Officials say the annual event is a great way to meet neighbors and keep the city looking good.

"its about making it a place where people enjoy living and like the way that it looks and so that's really the underlying reason," said Erin Carter, board member with the community relations coalition. "We want people to enjoy their home and have pride in where they live and feel connected to the community."

The next cleanup is scheduled for Sunday, October 13th at 10:30 in the morning.
