Officers Run At Midnight For Torch Run Event

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – You may have heard about police officers who "walk the beat," but law enforcement from around Michigan were out this morning literally "pounding the pavement."

Around 180 officers took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run at midnight Thursday. The run is a fundraiser for Michigan's "Special Olympics." They took off from the Capitol, ran about five miles and raised $6,000 for the cause. The run ended around 1:20 a.m. at Grandrive and Northwind Drive.
