MORRICE, Mich. (WLNS) – With high school football season touching down across Mid-Michigan, one local community is "going long" to make sure its team and other sports can have a high-scoring future. Tell Me Something Good's Evan Pinsonnault takes us to Mid-Michigan's "Field of Dreams."

As old dirt mows up from an old field falling apart, new dirt falls in on what will be the junior-senior high's new football field and track in Morrice. The school broke ground in August on its five-years-in-the-making "Field of Dreams" project. "This is a community school, they're proud of where they're from and they're proud of their teams," said Superintendent Will Heath. Teams that Superintendent Will Health says will finally get the home field advantage they deserve after having to always play on the road or cancel night games because of bad lighting, unsafe seating and poor playing conditions.

When it comes to donations, you can expect that red line to move up real soon, so far the community has raised more than $200,000 through manpower and equipment. "So far every dollar being donated, we're getting four or five or six dollars out of people's time to get this stuff done, so we couldn't do it without the community's support," said Heath.

They hope this support will get them from the work zone to the Orioles end zone, making the Morrice Field of Dreams a welcome reality.

Organizers of the Field of Dreams project say it will take around $6,000 to complete the field. If you would like to donate and learn more about the project, visit: http://morrice.k12.mi.us/modules/cms/pages.phtml?pageid=267657
