Water Bottles Could Have Deposit Refunds Soon

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A group of people brought forth a petition to show the public support to update Michigan's container deposit law, also known as the "Bottle Bill." The petition would expand Michigan's container deposit law to include water and most other bottled beverages, not just carbonated drinks.

It's being headed by the Public Interest Research Group in Michigan and supported by State Senator Rebekah Warren. Each year in Michigan over $500 million recyclable bottles are thrown away and end up in landfills, which comes out to 16 bottle per second.
