DEWITT, Mich. (WLNS) - 6 Sports has learned that DeWitt's all-everything quarterback Jake Johnson, one of the top high school football players in the area, has been in the hospital this week after sustaining a bruised spleen in the Panthers' 48 to 20 victory over St. John's last Friday night.
Johnson passed for four touchdowns and amassed 392 yards in total offense in the victory—but was hit on a clean play during the second half and sustained the injury.
He led DeWitt to a school-record 602 yards in total offense.
Johnson will not play this Friday vs. Owosso, but his injury is not expected to keep him out the rest of the season. He should return to the lineup soon, but won't play this Friday night.
