Gov. Snyder Helps Celebrate Growth Of Bus Company

Posted: Updated:

OWOSSO, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has announced the expansion of one of the country's largest used bus companies.

The governor paid a visit Monday afternoon to Midwest Bus Corp. in Owosso, 30 miles northeast of Lansing. The company focuses on bus repair, replacement parts, used bus sales, leasing and services to the transit industry.

The company is expanding thanks to a two-year, $31 million contract with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The company estimates the contract will create 100 new jobs in Shiawassee County.

Earlier Monday, Snyder toured the Michigan Sugar Co. a major sugar beet processing facility in Bay City.
