Some Propose Raising Minimum Wage To Over $10

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - A new survey by the Michigan League for Public Policy says that a raise in the minimum wage would not only benefit low-income families and children, but it would also benefit Michigan's economy.

The study says raising the minimum wage to $10.10, up from the current $7.40, would increase the annual incomes of over 1 million Michigan workers by an average of $2,256.

Studies have shown that each additional $1,000 in a household income for low-income families would mean better grades in school for young children, more jobs in the state and a boost in the econony.

Not everyone supports the idea of raising the minimum wage in Michigan. To read the full report, visit Seen on 6.
