Mich. Dept. Of Education Receives $2 Mill Grant

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Michigan Department of Education is receiving a $2 million grant to help teachers identify early signs of mental illness in schools.

Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin announced the funding today.

The money comes through the safe schools, healthy students program.

The DOE plans to develop and implement programs and strategies to reduce violence in schools and increase support for early childhood development and substance abuse programs.
