Local Lifeguards Honored For Saving Young Boy

"It feels nice to be recognized but it also shows that the training we get here is recognized and the support staff that we have here is unbelievable. Us employees are very fortunate that we work for Sparrow and the Michigan Athletic Club," said Bob Murphy, Head Lifeguard.

 

The awards were presented by Meridian Charter Township officials and the American Red Cross.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Three lifeguards were honored today for their actions in saving a five-year-old boy from drowning at the Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club.

Theresa Bodwin, Robert Murphy and Jane Wallenwine all came to the rescue of the child when they noticed something was wrong.
