Sex Offender Bill Heads To Governor's Desk

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The governor now gets to decide on a new way to have some sex offenders pay for their crimes.

The Michigan Senate passed a bill Thursday that would require people on Michigan's "sex offender registry" to pay $50 a year, according to the bill's sponsor Eaton County's Rick Jones.

He says the money would help cover the cost of keeping up the registry. He says the bill has already passed the Michigan House and is now on it's way to the governor for his signature.
