Meridian Township Celebrates Halloween

Families got a chance to enjoy some Halloween fun today at the Meridian Township police departments annual open house.

Children dressed up in their favorite costumes and got a tour of the police station.

They also enjoyed candies, doughnuts and cider and even got a chance to win some prizes.

Officials say this event is not only about having fun, but its about teaching kids how to have a safe holiday.

"We want to encourage the children that come to have a safe Halloween holiday," said Greg Frenger, lieutenant at the Meridian Township Police Department. "When we talk about safety and straying with their parents and all the other rules that we have for Halloween safety."

About 550 people showed up for the event today.
