DETROIT (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder and other state and local leaders are planning to get together in Detroit to discuss child welfare.
The Neighborhoods of Hope Wayne County Safety Forum is set for Monday at Second Ebenezer Church.
The daylong event is expected to draw more than 100 child welfare advocates, social workers, judges, law enforcement officials and residents from across Wayne County.
The program was organized by the Skillman Foundation, in collaboration with Casey Family Programs and the Michigan Department of Human Resources.
Speakers include Snyder, Skillman Foundation president Carol Goss, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and DHS Director Maura Corrigan.
The idea is to give policymakers and others the chance to come together on the issue of child welfare and plan a course of action to improve outcomes for children.
